Evaluation 2023

This evaluation was commissioned by the GlobeLife Steering Committee with the goal of assessing the effectiveness of the initiative in respect to its stated objective. The appraisal involved an inspection of records of previous events, a questionnaire-based survey, and two key informant interviews.

Various aspects were covered in the evaluation including a description of activities held over the last three years, characterization of GlobeLife participants/stakeholders, planning and organizational aspects of GlobeLife activities, collaborative outcomes, as well as stakeholders’ suggestions for the future of GlobeLife. Data collection, analysis and the compilation of this report took place in September and October 2023.

Survey 2018

This survey was constructed as an initial step to further increase and strengthen the collaboration between KI and UU in the area of global health. The ambition with the survey was to learn about projects that are relevant to the field of global health, and to identify collaborations between KI and UU, as well as collaborations with other universities in Sweden and abroad.

The survey used the following description of global health: "global health is an area of study, research and practise that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide ...it emphasizes transnational health issues, determinants, and solutions, involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population-based interventions and prevention with individual-level clinical care.

The survey was sent to heads of departments and research group leaders at KI and UU. It included 91 questions divided into three sections: "Research", "Education" and "Other activities".

More researchers than expected were active in global health, within all three areas: research, education and other activities. The answers show that there were already many collaborations in global health between the two academic institution and therefore, a good platform for increased and enhanced collaboration between KI and UU.
